what is a mini session?

mini-sessions are a photoshoot with a shorter time duration that is less of an investment compared to a full session.

the shoots are typically 30 minutes long and we usually schedule around 5-7 time slots during the day. mini shoots are popular as they are more affordable and less of a time commitment to capture moments over the years, whether you'd like to document your new pup, the teen years or a special senior. 
another pawsitive is you can now participate in more themed shoots that it we host throughout the year - k9 ice cream, wet and wild, and some holiday shoots!

how do i book a studio mini session for my dog?

click the “book now” button on the top right of the website. if there are not time slots that work for you, please reach out and i’ll let you know when i will be adding more dates!

how do i book a full session for my dog?

please leave me a message either on my contact page or my instagram and i will get back to you within 24hrs so we can start planning. full sessions are usually around 1 hour long, double the price and double the photos. they could also take place indoors, outdoors or both!

what happens once i book a session with you?

once you have booked, you will receive a confirmation email, and then another reminder/confirmation email 48 hours prior to your session

what can i expect when i come in for a studio mini session?

first things first, i meet your dog and we get comfortable with each other! we allow them to sniff around, check the place out and get used to the camera and lights while we praise them for being so brave! once your dog feels comfortable in the new space, i'll start taking pictures and rewarding them, whether that's with treats, their favourite toy or some praise. the owners typically will have to help with treats, commands or just staying behind me as a focal point while we try different angles out.

when do i receive the photos? do you send a preview photo?

72hrs after your photoshoot, you will receive a proofs gallery where you can choose which photos you would like finalized. regular studio mini sessions include 10 photos & the ice cream mini includes 5. 
after i receive your selection of photos, i will being post processing and send you the final gallery within 21 days of the shoot.

and yes! i send a preview photo 48hrs after the shoot so you don't have to wait in anticipation! the preview photo will give you an idea of what all the final photos will look like :)

what happens if i want more photos than the included amount?

when viewing the proofs gallery, if you would like add more than the included amount of photos, you may choose as many as you like at an investment of $10 per photo! i will then send an invoice for the additions once you have chosen your selection

what happens if i have to cancel or reschedule my session?

i totally understand things come up. for a full refund, i require a minimum of 72 hours notice so i can try to fill your spot. should you cancel within 72 hours i can offer you credit to reschedule your booking. please reach out as soon as you know you can't attend

do you photography pets other than dogs?

of course! i love all animals - i don't petscriminate. if you think your pet would be okay in a studio setting, please feel free to book a mini session or reach out and let me know if you have any questions

what does the studio consist of? what type of floor? do you use flash?

Accepted Answer

the studio consist of a large black backdrop, a few strobes (high power flashes) and I've added a black carpet so that the floor is not slippery and the dogs feel comfortable.

*the best thing you can do to prepare for a studio mini session is to get your dog or cat more comfortable to flash photography. try using your phone to take some flash photos and reward them for being so brave :)

what if my dog doesn't like the camera or studio? can you still get photos of them?

your dogs comfort is my priority! there are a few options if your dog is uncomfortable. the meet and great portion might be a little longer to allow your dog to get more comfortable in the new environment. the owners presence usually helps and together, with the combination of their favourite treats, we try our best. we also have the option for leashed photos and the leash can be removed in the post production stage so no one will ever know! if they are still not comfortable, i would love to credit the session so we can try again another day - the next time they come in they will hopefully be more familiar with the space and myself

who can i bring to the session?

the studio space is not very large and has room for 3 people and the models. the owners usually help coax and encourage their pooch as i scramble around on the floor trying to get into the best position for the shot! it's usually quite entertaining.

can i bring two dogs to one session?

Accepted Answer

yes! for each time-slot, you may bring up to 2 dogs. there is an additional $50 fee to bring a second dog and the amount of photos will still be 10 high res images. however, there is an option to purchase more images. if you would like the full amount of time and 10 photos for each dog, i would suggest booking back to back sessions

what happens if you capture more than the included amount?
